Beginner's Guide to Trading

This post will serve as an elementary background to trading.  A future post will discuss more advanced topics such as trade negotiations, trade etiquette and how to find trades for yourself (bcrank.us or the facebook group Battle Camp Global Trading).

What is Trading?

Trading is a process of exchanging monsters between players.

Why trade?

Most players first begin trading when they decide to create a team consisting of one zodiac.  (This turns on the passive abilities of the monsters and they'll become stronger and your power rating will jump).  As your monsters come in random zodiacs, trading these for your desired zodiacs speeds up forming your team.  Other players trade monsters they don't need or want for ones that they do.  It's common for players to also trade specials to get the element they need most for feeding or evolving their monsters.

What monsters can I trade?

Being able to trade monsters is a right that you earn as you level up in the game.  At the following game levels, you will begin to be able to trade monsters of the following rarities:

Level 15: Commons
Level 20: Rares
Level 25: Specials
Level 30: Supers
Level 40: Ultras
Level 50: Epics
Level 55: Legendary

Trades can only be made for the same rarity monster.  For example: a super can only be traded for another super; and a special can only be traded for another special.

While an event is running, event monsters from that event can only be traded with each other.  After the event has concluded, this restriction will lift and you can trade them for any other monster of the same rarity.

Monsters that you have second evolved, crystals and r-boosting treats can not be traded at any time.

At trade time, monsters will need to be in your inventory (not on a team or in storage) and any equipment they've been wielding must be removed.  Unless these conditions are met, your monster will be invisible to the trading website.

Who can I trade with?

You can trade monsters with any other player in the game.  The catch is that you'll need to be friends in game for 12 days (shorter if you have VIP2+ activated). Make sure to discuss/negotiate your trade with this player thoroughly so that you both understand the details of the monsters you'll be trading.  (Feeding levels, active and passive abilities, zodiacs, passive levels, etc).

Most players begin by becoming in game friends with their troopmates and after 12 days, trading is a quick process thereafter whenever you need.  Trading with troopmates tends to help your troop and facilitates finding the monsters you need as you'll all tend to talk in troop chat anyway.

More advanced players may begin to negotiate trades with people they don't know through bcrank.us or the facebook group Battle Camp Global Trading . (These will be discussed in more detail in a future post).

You are only able to make 2 trades each day.  (VIP3+ players can make more trades than this).

What are multi-trades

At times you may see offers being made to trade monsters of different rarities.  For example, one maxed specials for one really good super.  In order to complete these trades, player A will trade their maxed special for a low-level special of player B.  Player A will then trade their worst super for player B's really good super.

Note that these kinds of trades are not recommended by Battle Camp, nor the majority of players, unless you trust the other player extremely well.  There is too much chance that player B will receive the maxed special and then refuse to trade you their really good super.

How do I trade?

1. Use facebook login at support.pennypop.com .

2. Select Trading from top menu. For ios users, you'll need to click the button with the three horizontal lines in the top right corner to make the menu drop down.

3. Type in the exact username that you're trading with and click submit, or find their username on the list of your game friends (chronological order) and click the select button next to their name.  If you haven't been friends in the game for long enough (12 days), a message will pop up showing you how much longer you'll need to wait.

4. The monsters in your trading partner's current inventory (not in storage and not with equipment wielded) will be listed, with both their name and avatar displayed. Click the Info button of the monster you're interested in.

5. The details of that monster will appear. If it's the one you want to trade for, click select.

6. The listing of available monsters (of the same rarity) in your directory will be displayed.
In this example, I selected a special in step 5, so only the specials in my inventory will be shown.  Scroll down to find your monster for the trade, then click the Info button below that monster.

7.
The details of that monster will appear. If it's the one you want to trade for, click select.  (Note that in this example I'm trading specials between my two accounts - trading a potent special for an energized one wouldn't normally be considered a fair trade!)

8. A summary of both monsters for trading will appear. Click submit if you're happy with both monsters shown.  If you're unsure, you can click the Info button on either monster to check its details once more.

9. The trade proposal that you've just created will now be submitted and displayed for you.  Note that all trade proposals expire after 24 hours.  If you wish to remove the trade proposal for any reason, click on the "Reject" link under the "Actions" heading.

You can click on the monster names under "Proposer Monster" or "Proposed to Monster" to bring up the monster information as per in steps 5 and 7.  The person receiving your trade proposal can (and should!) check the details of the monster this way too!

In the example below, I have 3 trades available to make today (as I have VIP3).  I'm able to have up to 20 pending proposals - either trades proposed by me or by other players.  These will all appear on this list.

10. The game will NOT contact the other player to let them know they have a trade proposal waiting.  You'll need to contact the person you're trading with to let them know that the trade has been submitted. That person will need to go to the trading page where your offer will be listed as per the screenshot below. They can (and should!) click on the monsters names in the proposal to see the details of the two monsters.  They then have the choice of accepting or rejecting your trade proposal. Note that both players will need to be out of the game when the recipient accepts the trade.  After this, once you return to the game, your new monster will be in your inventory.  (If it doesn't appear in your inventory, try moving to a different map location to refresh your inventory list).

  5. Are others able to view all monsters i have including ones in storage and on my team? When viewing others inventory I only see less than 30 monsters usually so curious if storage monsters are hidden from trading. Or maybe I'm just a monster hoarder.

    1. Others can see into your inventory but not your storages or teams. They also won'5 be able to see any non-tradable monsters like crystals or second evolutions. Hope this helps. I'm a monster hoarder myself ;)
